Introduction to Repricing

Ecommerce seller reviewing pricing dashboard on laptop

Repricing is the practice of adjusting your product prices in response to changes in the competitive marketplace — competitor price moves, Buy Box shifts, inventory changes, or demand signals. For any seller managing more than a handful of SKUs, doing this manually is impossible at the speed markets move.

Why prices change constantly

On Amazon alone, prices for competitive listings can change hundreds of times per day. Every time a competitor adjusts their price, your competitive position shifts. If you're priced above the new low, you risk losing the Buy Box. If you're priced too far below, you're leaving margin on the table.

01
Understand your competitive position
For each SKU, identify who you're competing against, what their typical price range is, and how price-sensitive the category tends to be.
02
Set your margin floors first
Before writing any repricing rules, define the lowest price you can sell each product at and still hit your margin target. This is non-negotiable.
03
Start with a simple match rule
Match to the lowest competitive price, subject to your floor. Review decisions for the first two weeks before enabling automation.
